Climate City Joensuu 2025 project 2023-2025

Climate City Joensuu 2025 project aims to increase the awareness and understanding of businesses on their carbon emissions and to stronger engage local companies in local climate action. It has been estimated that approximately 45 % of cities’ regional emissions are created in businesses and service production. Therefore it is essential to include businesses in the work towards carbon neutral Joensuu in 2025.

The aim of the project is to provide companies tools to set and monitor their low carbon targets and to develop energy efficient and competitive products, services, and solutions. The goal is to impact the sustainability of entire local production chain and to create new low carbon and energy efficient product and service concepts.

Climate City Joensuu 2025 project runs from 1st of February 2023 to 30st of June 2025. The project is funded by the European Regional Fund (75%) and the city of Joensuu (25%). The total funding is €352 261.
